Spinnaker Group is a leading green-building consultancy that guides developers, architects, and owners through high-performance and sustainable projects. Their team works on projects where certification, occupant well-being, and long-term performance all matter.
Over time, they had accumulated a wealth of project experience and data — but much of it lived in internal documents and spreadsheets. The website needed to reflect their design sensibility and give that knowledge a clearer home.

Challenge
Spinnaker Group’s previous website did not reflect the caliber of work or the depth of their data. It was difficult to surface relevant projects, and there was no simple way to share aggregated benchmarks across their portfolio.
At the same time, any redesign needed to respect existing SEO gains and ensure that the site remained fast and reliable for a professional, research-oriented audience.
Approach
We worked with Spinnaker leadership to design a new experience around two ideas: inspiration and data. The site would highlight visually compelling projects while also making space for charts, metrics, and comparative views that matter to decision-makers.

Strategic & data foundation
We began by cataloging the kinds of data Spinnaker collected across projects — from certification levels and building types to geographic and climate considerations. This helped define which metrics were most valuable to highlight publicly.
In parallel, we worked through content strategy: how to frame project stories so they connected the narrative (client goals, constraints, outcomes) with the underlying technical achievements.
UX & visual design
The design emphasizes clarity and calm: generous white space, legible type, and imagery that highlights the texture of sustainable buildings. Navigation makes it easy to move between project narratives and higher- level insight pages.
Technology & implementation
We recommended and implemented a hosting and CMS configuration that balanced flexibility with reliability. The build focused on clean code, image optimization, and sensible content models that make publishing new projects and data straightforward for the internal team.
Redirects and structured content ensured that existing search equity was preserved, even as URLs and page structures improved.
